The I3 MK3 is actually the company's third attempt to mate a 10mm speaker, a balanced armature, and a single planar driver. In the I3, the planar was only responsible for the midrange, and the balanced driver reigned supreme. In the I3 Pro, everything was slightly replayed, with the planar driver working in the mids and highs, while the armature was pushed to the very edge of the range. Today's guest has been switched at all - the balanced driver now works in the midrange, and the planar driver - in the highs. And you know what? - it's probably the best sound I've ever heard from TRI. It's juicy, bright and seriously rich. But, as always, there are nuances.
